Domain name transfers can be a risky business.
Countless people have never received the domains they have paid for, and others have lost their names without payment. Differences between international trading laws mean very little protection from unscrupulous merchants.
Protect yourself with the Names123 domain escrow service
But protection is possible with the introduction of a third party - a domain broker - who holds both the domain and the payment for a short period while the transaction is processed.
Names123's domain escrow service provides peace of mind to both buyer and seller and is available on all sales above £500. We will even consider helping with sales taking place outside of the auction.
For a moderate cost of £250, or 5% of the sale transaction (which ever is the higher), you can ensure that your domain name transfer will be legally and professionally administered. This fee is typically paid by the seller.
Here's how the brokerage service works:
- You provide us the details of the transaction: domain name, selling price, current and future owners, and email addresses.
- After confirming ownership registration via Whois and transaction details with each party via e-mail, we complete a domain name Purchase Agreement and escrow instructions for both parties to the transaction to sign.
- After the documentation is complete and returned to the office, we open a separate bank Account for this transaction, and the buyer is instructed to remit the funds to this Account.
- We work with the buyer and seller and the domain name registrar to properly effect the domain name transfer.
- We confirm the successful transfer through the registrar.
- We release the funds from escrow to the seller (made payable to the registered owner per the Registrar), less our 5% (maximum £250) transfer fee. We assume the seller pays the transfer fee unless we are otherwise instructed.
